CARLSBERG South West Peninsula League Premier Division side Saltash United gave their newly-promoted Evo-Stik League Southern Premier visitors, Bideford a tough test in their friendly fixture at Kimberley Stadium, only going down to a last-minute penalty.
Even then, the Ashes contested the throw-in, from which the ball reached Sam Paxton, who took on the home defence and rode his luck before being bundled over by Matt Godfree in the area.
Richard Groves powered home the resulting spot-kick past Ben Elphick.
