A PARTY of 42 St Mellion Fossils and their partners embarked on the club's autumn tour to St Pierre, in Monmouthshire.

Organised by captain Robin Hancock and his wife, Stella, the group played three rounds of golf in sunny weather on the venue's two splendid courses – the Mathern and Old Championship – recording some excellent scores over the latter.

The standout moment came near the end of the week when, in front of the entire group on the Championship course, Don Bennett played a fantastic shot that came to rest just a couple of feet from the hole to take the 'nearest the pin' prize.
