A SMALL team from the Callington-based TT Taekwondo club made the long journey to Hampshire for the VW Open Taekwondo Championships and came home with eight medals. The competition combined WTF (World Taekwondo Federation) Olympic full-contact fighting and Technical Poomsae (Patterns), with the Cornish martial artists gaining success in both disciplines. Paul Williams had a particularly good fight, winning the first round and finishing the second round level, before gaining the all-important point in the third. Adam Leng sustained a nasty kick to the groin and, despite making a quick recovery, he carried on in pain and lost on points.
