St Cleer were away to Chaddlewood on Saturday in DJM U-11 Ajax but went down 4-2. It was the first league game of the season, and St Cleer dominated the first half showing the enthusiasm, commitment and understanding from a team of players which have mainly been together for two seasons.
For St Cleer Daniel Tapper was his ever skillful self up front scoring the only goal of the first half, hitting the post twice and was unlucky not to be given a second. The day was very hot and sunny both sides battled well but St Cleer started the second half well scoring a second goal within five minutes through opposition man of the match Daniel Tapper.
This seemed to awaken Chaddlewood who took control of the game and through a little good fortune opened their account within ten minutes. Three more goals followed making the final score 4-2 to Chaddlewood. Praise came from the manager as St Cleer showed great depth in character when events and injuries seemed to dog their opening day. Well done! Manager's man of the match for St Cleer went to Tim Saunders for his determination and persistence.
