The Liskeard branch of Trago Mills, at Twowatersfoot, has become a Wildlife Guardian of the Cornwall Wildlife Trust.
The store, tucked into the Glynn Valley along the A38, is set in mature wooded areas beside a number of ponds and lakes.
The River Fowey also runs through the site and was once used to power the production of gunpowder for over 200 years until the early 1960s, when Trago founder Mike Robertson purchased the site.
A riverside walk and nature reserve was originally created at the site by Mr Robertson and is known as Hartridge’s Wood.
In recent months, Ellie Robertson, daughter of current Trago owner and chairman Bruce Robertson, has been working on a plan to develop the area further.
Ellie said: ‘Our riverside walk is already popular with many customers.
‘However, my aim is to expand on this to provide areas for play, leisure and learning, and to create spaces to encourage more wildlife.
‘Trago is delighted to have joined the Cornwall Wildlife Trust as a Wildlife Guardian and we look forward to working with them on developing activities and events to highlight the importance of wildlife diversity in the county.’
