A life-sized kelp forest created from discarded fishing gear is one of the thought-provoking artworks in an exhibition taking place on Friday evening (June 21).

The Marine Art project show at Looe’s Old Sardine Factory Heritage Centre is the culmination of six months’ work by students from local primary and secondary schools.

The Looe Marine Conservation Group encouraged the young people to think about the threats posed to the oceans and wildlife globally and express this in any type of art form.

From printing and photography to large scale work using materials found on beaches, the results have been inspiring, said LMCG chairman Amelia Bridges.

Also exhibiting at the Old Sardine Factory are artist and campaigner Rob Arnold, and two young women from Looe, Charlotte Guest and Amber Palfrey, who have gone on to study Marine and Natural History Photography at Falmouth University.
