Children will be encouraged to take their very own ’tree bomb’ home to plant at a free event for families tomorrow.

The Big Tree Project is taking place at Puddle Farm Shop in Lanlivery from 12noon - 3pm.

Children’s wild activities, facepainting, a walking tour of the farm and storytelling will all be part of the afternoon - and organisers say bring your wellies!

Organiser Melanie Broomhead said: ’We’re trying to raise awareness of why it is we should all be planting trees - and spreading knowledge about how trees benefit our health, and our environment, in helping to combat climate emergency.’

Planting a tree is something everyone can do, she says.

’Even if you don’t have a garden, you can plant an apple tree in a pot.

’We’ll have tree bombs tomorrow, so that everyone can hopefully go home and plant a tree themselves. These are alder seeds in a capsule of compost that has everything they need to germinate.’All proceeds from the event will benefit The Woodland Trust.
