A popular four-day family festival of food, music and culture on the Camel Estuary went down a treat.
Scores of festival-goers enjoyed mouth-watering food from Michelin Star-awarded chefs at the Rock Oyster Festival and music from legends such as Nile Rogers + Chic, Groove Armada and Sophie Ellis-Bextor. There were plenty of wellies and glitter on display as festival-goers did not let the showers dampen their spirits.
The unique festival also hosted a life-enriching adventure and well-being programme.
A host of culinary talent was on show including the Great British Menu’s Andi Oliver and River Cottage’s Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall. Rock Oyster also put a spotlight on local chefs including Nathan Outlaw, Simon Stallard, Andrew Tuck, Jude Kereama and Emily Scott.
The festival boasted its biggest music line up to date. The festival kicked off in big style with Groove Armada getting the crowd bouncing on Friday night with iconic bangers such as ‘Superstylin’,’ ‘At The River,’ and ‘I See Ya Baby.’
Organisers described the performance of Nile Rodgers as its biggest ever in the festival’s history. The multi-Grammy award-winning showcased his chart-topping songs including ‘Le Freak,’ ‘Everybody Dance,’ ‘Let’s Dance,’ and ‘Up All Night.’
Sophie Ellis-Bextor closed the festival with a rousing performance which got the crowd dancing despite the rain. Other highlights included London four piece The Big Moon, Mercury prize nominated, Cornish language champion Gwenno and filmmaker, musician, documentarist and cultural historian Don Letts.
Amongst the high points was Sharp’s Brewery’s Solar Wave CHAT IPA edition of their Silent Bistro – which made its official Cornish debut at the event. Guests were able to take a seat, grab a beer, don some headphones and tune into the sounds, flavours and aromas in an intriguing way.
