GETTING outside to enjoy the landscape or try a new sport can extend your life and improve mental health, says a charity which looks after beauty spots around the region.
The South West Lakes Trust (SWLT) has launched the second of five campaigns which underpin the work of the charity and its staff and volunteers.
The ’Active Outdoors’ campaign is summed up in a short video showcasing how health and wellbeing can be boosted in natural surroundings.
Among the lakes and nature reserves featuring in the film are Siblyback Lake near Liskeard and Roadford Lake, near Launceston.
Centre manager at Roadford Lake Matt Lennox said: ‘We want to provide great experiences for people, whether they are on their own, with their friends or with their family to get active and healthy in the outdoors.
‘We are sure there is something for everyone, whether it’s trying a new watersport, going for a walk or even a spot of fishing. We would love it if the lakes became places that people use to stay fit and healthy.’
