A Liskeard taxi driver has raised £1,335.80 for a local cause and a children’s cancer charity after undergoing a headshave followed by a tattoo. Liskeard School student and junior rugby player Charlie McKay, 15, now undergoing treatment for liver cancer in a Bristol hospital, will receive some of the money to help him and his family, and the rest will be go to CLIC Sargent. The sum was raised by Danny Smith, 41, a driver for MyKabs, who drew an enthusiastic crowd in the town’s Albion pub, while Phil Morford, of Liskeard barbers Browns, did an expert job with a cutthroat razor to shave off his hair. It was then straight down the road to put himself into the hands of Richard Green, of East Looe Tattoo. Richard inked a ribbon symbol onto the side of Danny’s newly-shaved head, and added the words ‘No One Fights Alone’. Then it was back to the pub in Liskeard for an excellent ‘after’ event where more money was raised.
