Town mayor Hilary Frank welcomed members of 1st Saltash Senior Section, Girl Guiding, to this month’s town council meeting.

They gave an illustrated account of their visit to Guiding’s International Centre, ‘Our Chalet’ in Adelboden, Switzerland, in August.

Also welcomed was Rear Admiral Wood, who spoke about the honours system.

He said he thought Cornwall did not get its fair share of honours and recommended the council, who knew of the people who had served the community over the years, should think about nominating people to the Cabinet Office, who dealt with all nominations.
