MORE than 100 boxes of food were collected for families in need at a South East Cornwall supermarket.
Callington town crier Tony Stentiford called people to action at the Tesco store in the town and helped volunteers gather 1,341kg of food over a three-day period.
He said ‘the amazing collection would provide food – as well as food for thought – for the people of Callington’.
Food bank manager Pam Stephens said: ‘Once again we have been overwhelmed by the generosity and support of the people of Callington and the surrounding areas.
‘Our December collection weekend at Tesco Callington has helped to replenish our warehouse stock at a busy time of year. Thank you to the staff, our volunteers at the food bank and to everyone who donated to help locals in need.’
