The millennium Albaston fete is facing potential crisis. This annual event which attracts thousands of people for a day of fun and has raised over £40,000 for local charities in the past 15 years, is in danger of being disbanded for the millennium year.
At the recent AGM there were no new volunteers to take up the committee positions, which were left vacant by retiring members.
The fete desperately needs people to become involved with its organisation and to help on fete day itself (17 June).
If people do not come forward to help this event the fete will be unable to run, disappointing fete goers and denying local groups from much needed funds. Groups from around the Tamar Valley and beyond (including Tavistock) benefit from the monies raised by the fete, now an established event in the area.
The next fete meeting is on Wednesday 8 December and we would welcome new members from anywhere in the area - you do not have to live in Albaston to be a committee member.
