Devon County Council has revealed the road closure on the A390 at
Newbridge near Gunnislake is going to impact on motorists for many more days.
Engineers say it will be some days yet before they know the full extent of the damage and are unable to predict with certainty how long repairs will take.
The collision with the Grade 1-listed bridge involved a vehicle approaching from the Cornwall side.
Devon County and Cornwall Councils’ highways teams are working together to sign and divert traffic around the bridge which involves a 32 mile diversion across the Tamar Bridge.
