The first week of the new season got underway with all four divisions, each consisting of 11 teams, taking to the alleys and producing some competitive skittling and surprises.

In Division One, The Jets, newly-promoted from division two, started their season well, taking all six points in their home match against the Edwardians, who looked under-par.

Also new to the league were Barley Oats, but they were unable to contain the Bulldogs, who came away with all six points.

Last year's Division two champs, Londoners, started well but missed out on points in their away game against Callington, who matched the second highest pinfall of the week with 537 pins.

Current holders of the league championship, Hotshots, visited the Cast-offs at Dobsons and failed by just one pin in the first half to gain any points, which meant the home side came away with a very useful 6-0 win.

The Rebels, competing at their new venue in Pensilva, played host to the Misfits, who took a first half lead of 30 pins, including a 23-pin spare from Bert James. However, the home side did managed to rescue two points in the second half, so the match resulted in a 4-2 win for the Misfits.

The Woodentops travelled to Treburley Club and were the better side in both halves in their match against Burley Booties, taking all six points.

Ditchers, relegated from division one last season, started well and looked set to take all six points as they held a 24-pin half-time lead against their visitors, Sandpipers. However, the scoring was reversed in the second half, leading to a 4-2 point victory for the visitors.

Marquee also came away as 4-2 victors in their home match against Marketeers.

Newly-promoted Seccombes held a two point lead after four legs at Dobsons against the Oddballs, who improved to take the remaining four points.

The Four x 4's also secured a 6-0 victory at the Treburley Club, where the Mad Hatters were just three pins short in the second period and so were unable to rescue any points.

The Treburley Growlers travelled to Roche and came away with four points, but they allowed the Clementines back into the match and they put up a spirited second half performance, although they finished just three pins short of their target. 4-2 was also the final result at Hessenford where the home side, Hobos, came out on top in the second half to defeat the Snooty Foxes by 24 pins.

The Nomads of Bodmin, minus their captain, were unable to field a full team on their first visit to Pensilva, where the home side, Hilltops, came out on top in both halves to take an easy six points.

The British Legion kicked off their Division Four season with a local derby, Line Dancers and Bilge Rats sharing the alley. However, it was the Bilge Rats' team of eight who eventually came out on top with a 27-pin overall majority and all six points.

The Breakaways, relegated from division three last season, visited the newly-formed Ramblers team at the Church House, Linkinhorne. The Ramblers put up a good display, failing by just one pin in the first half and then two pins in the second period to rescue any points.

Another set of newcomers, the Thrashers, based at the Barley Sheaf, took on the Ladybirds in their first home encounter and, despite trailing by six pins after four legs, went on to record a 4-2 win. However, the scores were very close as just two pins seperated the sides, largely due to Ladybirds' Pat Parsons' total of 81 pins.

The third new side to join division four, the Victorians from Roche, travelled to Dobsons to play the Circles, and they found their hosts to be on good form. The Victorians did managed to rescue one point to bring the second half totals equal, although this was not enough to prevent the Circles' 5-0 victory.

The Millers in this, their second season, travelled to Callington Social Club and they found themselves trailing by six pins after four legs in their game against the Socialites. However, they improved in the second half to finish 4-2 winners.
