THE furniture department at Trago Mills' South East Cornwall store became a temporary hair salon on Tuesday morning, when brave sales assistant Donna Fisher underwent a complete head shave for charity.

Donna, who has worked at the store in the Glynn Valley near Liskeard for 10 years, was raising money for Cancer Research UK and Breast Cancer Awareness.

'We've lost a couple of our colleagues to cancer in recent months, and we've also had colleagues who have battled through it really bravely,' she said.

'My partner's father also died from cancer and it made me want to do something to help. The cancer charities do a fantastic job and they need all the help and support they can get.'

Fellow staff members, relatives and friends cheered and clapped in support as stylist Samantha Roberts, from Image One Hair Salon at Trago, assisted by Wendy Harvey, relieved Donna of every inch of her hair.

So far Donna's head shave has raised £1,600 from sponsorship pledges and when the collection buckets placed around the store are counted at the end of month, it is hoped the total will have risen to around £2,000.
