Cricket- County Division Six (East)
St Lawrences Hospital v Menheniot
On a minefield of a strip, Menheniot lost the toss and were put into bat. The home captain J J Carthew knew what he was doing as they skittled Menheniot out for 95. Only James Handley on (13) and Mike Strand (19) made double figures with Carthew taking 7-25.
In reply St Lawrence lost their first two wickets to Mike Harrison's bowling with Keith Goldsmith bowling his nagging line and length to record 16-3-25-2. At 76-6, Menheniot were in with a shout after Bill McLoughlin had returned 2-27 off eight overs. Unfortunately his next three overs were absolute dross conceding 22 runs off 13 balls to give the Bodmin side victory by four wickets.
However the Menheniot captain apologised wholeheartedly to his team in the gloomy dressing room after the game for a poor bowling finish. Scores - Menheniot 96, St Lawrence's Hospital 99-6.
