Council surgeries
Callington Town Council has been hosting very successful town council surgeries, where any member of the parish can attend the town clerk's office at the town hall to speak to councillors Kath Pascoe or Tony Nettle in either their town, district or county council capacities, to discuss any queries or problems.
Town Clerk Michael Williams said: 'The council surgeries have been going extremely well. We have been seeing four or five people at each session. It gives people the chance to express their opinions, queries and any problems.'
The next surgery will be held at the town clerk's office on March 18 from 10am until 12 noon.
No time interest
Callington Lions club chairman, Arthur Pridham, recently expressed disappointment that no response had been received from organisations or schools in the Callington area regarding the placing of time capsules.
The capsules are to be placed under or around the new granite blocks on each approach road to Callington inscribed - 'Callington'.
Mr Pridham spoke at the recent town council meeting - Kath Pascoe thought that the Council should contribute to the project and make a time capsule to be buried as part of Callington Lions club effort.
Roger Gillard suggested that some letters from the highways authorities should be part of the council's time capsule so that:
'When they are dug up, the people in many years time can see that still nothing has been done to the problem areas of Callington!
