A party of German walking enthusiasts have praised the reception they received in South East Cornwall after making it a base for their recent tour in the UK.

They chose the Eliot House Hotel in Liskeard as a centre for a variety of walks which they undertook, including a historical tour of Liskeard town led by Tony Wood of Stuart House.

This was followed by a tour of the mines, quarries and archaeological sites of Bodmin Moor with Brian Oldham of the group Walkers Are Welcome, and the day finished with a meal at the Cheesewring Hotel at Minions.

Their guides in Cornwall have received emails praising the warmth of the welcome and help they received in the Liskeard area.
