Pensilva's second team visited Mary Tavy on Saturday and came away on the wrong end of a three two scoreline.
Mary Tavy took an early lead as Pensilva started badly and things got worse when Lee Caers was unable to continue and was replaced by the boss; John Miller, making his first appearance of the season. Also making his first start was centre forward and man mountain, Bob Palmer, who's strange behaviour on the field was later explained by the revelation that he was receiving regular score updates on the Rugby World Cup semi-final which South Africa unfortunately lost. A mini revival brought a Pensilva equaliser from Jimmy Miles to make the half time score 1-1.
Mary Tavy were the better side after the break as Pensilva failed to find their true form and two goals made the score 3-1. They did keep battling though, and it was Mike Rendle with what he himself described as "as good a goal as you will ever see", and others described as a lucky deflected goal he had no right to claim, who pulled one back but an equaliser was not forthcoming. So the points were lost after a generally disappointing performance.
