People from across Cornwall have been invited to join Bishop Tim’s final service as the Bishop of Truro.
Bishop Tim will preside and preach at the Eucharist service in Truro Cathedral on Saturday, July 22, at 4pm.
There will be speakers set up so the service can be relayed outside if the cathedral gets full.
At the end of the service Bishop Tim will hand over his crosier, or pastoral staff, to be kept in the care of the Dean of Truro and the cathedral until a new diocesan bishop is welcomed. Following the service there will be refreshments.
Bishop Tim is also inviting those who would like to see him and say goodbye in person to join him at two open house events at Lis Escop, on either Friday, July 28 or Saturday, July 29, between 3pm and 5.30pm.
Refreshments will be available and people will be free to wander in the garden.
Bishop Tim hopes there will be an opportunity to say goodbye in person to all who would like to see him.
He said: ’I will be sad of course to say goodbye to people, but it will be a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the past nine years and all the many positive things that have happened, and the wonderful people I have met.
’It will also be an opportunity to give thanks to God for the pilgrimage we have taken together so far, and to ask his blessing on our journeys as we take different paths.’
Bishop Tim is moving to take up his new position as Bishop at Lambeth.
