This fast, two-lap course around the historic areas of Plymouth, taking in the Hoe and the Barbican, attracted a record number of runners this year, with over 390 people entering the main race. There was also a shorter fast run that took place after the main race started. The event was well marshalled and the results were displayed quickly as the runners finished.
The winner, as last year, was Stuart Hall from Tipton Harriers in a time of 53:14. Second was Simon Anderson, Plymouth Harriers, in 53:53, and Allister Bristow of Erme Valley Harriers, finishing in 54:12.
The ladies race was won by Cathy Newman from Exeter Harriers. She was 14th overall in a magnificent time of 59:38. Second lady was Rachel Wilson, South Devon AC, in 1:06:02. Jacky Tyler, from East Cornwall Harriers, was third back in 1:06:49 and Andrew Lord in 1:09:08. Ron Paine finished in a time of 1:11:05. ECH were unable to field a team for the event, so Plymouth Harriers took the female team prize. Plymouth Harriers also took the male team prize.
