TORPOINT’S fire crew have warned of the dangers of hoarding after they attended a house fire in the town last Thursday (March 1).

No-one was hurt during the fire but the property was damaged.

Torpoint’s firefighters were assisted by crews from Saltash and Liskeard as they used hose reel jets to bring the fire under control.

A spokesperson for Torpoint Community Fire Station said: ‘We had visited the occupant on multiple occasions to ensure they were safe and to advise on the problem of hoarding.

‘We checked the fire alarms during our visits, and these probably saved the occupant.’
