A local man is in hospital in a critical but stable condition after being hit by a car near Fowey on Saturday night.
The 42-year-old man from Liskeard was airlifted to Derriford Hospital by a search and rescue helicopter after being seriously injured as he walked along a road on the outskirts of Fowey just before 11.30pm. The vehicle involved in the collision, a white Peugeot, allegedly drove off from the scene.
Also injured was another pedestrian, a 43-year-old woman from Looe who was taken to Derriford by land ambulance with less serious injuries and has since been discharged.
The incident happened on the A3082 Fowey to Par road near the Four Turnings garage.
Officers later arrested a 28-year-old woman from Par on suspicion of driving whilst above the alcohol limit and seized her vehicle.She has been released from custody pending further enquiries. The man's condition is currently described as critical but stable.
Police are looking for anyone who saw what happened to get in touch - it is believed that a BMW taxi, carrying passengers was travelling behind the Peugeot and may have witnessed the incident. Any witnesses should call 101 quoting 1183 of 25.08.18.
