A police manhunt after a shooting in Saltash last night led to the arrest of four people in Liskeard this morning.

Devon and Cornwall Police attended a report of a shooting in Saltash at 10.17pm yesterday, following which a 37 year old man was found with serious injuries to his hand.

Armed officers searching for suspects closed Higher Lux Street in Liskeard this morning and one home was evacuated, said police.

Four people were arrested at 10.10am.

Police commander for East Cornwall, superintendent Ian Drummond-Smith said: ’I would like to thank residents for their patience while High Lux Street was closed and one home was evacuated, both of which were necessary for public safety. 

’In this case, the suspects were arrested within twelve hours of the incident and I would like to reassure the public that we have acted promptly to keep the community safe.  I expect forensic and search teams to continue work in High Lux Street and in Longlands Lane, Saltash, throughout the day.’
