Emergency services have been called to accidents early this morning in cold conditions on Cornwall’s roads.
One was on the A390 Callington Road at Liskeard, partly blocking the road. Another was on the A390 between Lostwithiel and East Taphouse. There were two single-vehicle collisions and one two-vehicle accident in North Cornwall. One was at Stratton, near Bude, and two were on the A39, one at Davidstow and one between Michaelstow and St Kew Highway. In two of the accidents, trapped motorists had to be freed by Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service crews and taken to hospital by paramedics.A broken-down bus on the A38 in the Glynn Valley added to drivers' woes this morning, partially blocking the road and causing long delays. It was removed just before 10.30am.The ambulance service says it has taken more than 420 999 calls across the South West since midnight, 50 of them in Cornwall.
